Basic Tarot Card Meanings - The Fours

The fours in tarot are about stability and firm rooting. Whatever was planned has passed its initial stages and now has taken shape. Be that a new romance, a business, an investment, travel plans, etc. You have passed the stages of concept and planning and have already taken that first step, and are now in a place you can stop and take stock of what has been accomplished.
This stage can bring you to realize your efforts were worthwhile or that you need to stop and accept defeat or make drastic change. Whatever foundation you have built upon should be shown now to be true and steadfast or needs some serious tweaking. In other words you should have some results from previous actions be they positive or negative.
The Emperor is associated with the fours in Tarot and the Emperor stands for, in short, stability, but we cannot take for granted that it means we are stable, but rather to do a self check and assessment to discover if we truly are, or not.
If so then we can proceed and if not we must choose to end the path or to make changes to see it further!
The fours like in all the other number cards will tell you what this message is in regard to  by the suit it is in.

Tarot Number Cards - The Basics of the Threes

The threes for me are the tricker of the numbered cards to understand. The best way for me to explain it is to think of the pyramid with the three corners. At the top you have yourself, the decision maker, the one who has the options or choices before them. Beneath in one corner we have path A and in the other corner path B. Each path with its pros and cons. As we reflect on what we have learned about the twos - the fact finding number cards, we now face the threes, the phase in which we take that first step.

Now, the idea behind the triangle and the threes is that we form a sense of balance in our path toward our goal. Whatever the twos indicated, whatever that decision we had to make during the twos phase, be it love, career, etc ... we now have the threes, which are telling us we have made the first step toward it, so we now must find a balanced path to succeed!
The Empress card rules over the threes in tarot. The Empress is known in tarot as the creator! You see, you are, like the empress, creating your path toward your goals and it must be done with balance in order to find your success. This means while you are headed toward what you desire you must see both sides of things. As you “stand” at the top of your pyramid looking down at the two points on either side, remember, sometimes it is necessary to walk a strait line down the middle, while other times you path may lead more toward one direction or the other. The Empress, who rules the threes, being the creator that she is also is a caretaker who must nurture.
Remember however although the Empress who rules over the threes is a motherly nurturing type there is only one letter difference between mother and smother! We must be patient! We must have that balance as mentioned many times here in order to reach our goals! Over worry, over nurturing, stressing, obsessing are all going too far toward the negative path!
Isn’t that how life is though!? A bit of a twisting path but when we have a good balance and sense of control of that path we more easily arrive at our desired destination.
With that said - the Threes in tarot are indicative of knowing the balance we must maintain and remembering to nurture ourselves and the goals we are striving to achieve without obsessing over them!

Tarot Number Cards - The Basics of the Twos

The two in any suit in the tarot deck are about direction, choices and intuitive knowledge. Related to the High Priestess, there is a feeling of needing to go one direction or the other, to make a choice, to come to a conclusion. Where the Aces were all about a clean slate, a new beginning, or a seed planted, the twos are about figuring out which direction to go.

When a two comes up in a reading it can indicate that your querent is at a cross roads and is collecting information to make a decision on their path. This is also a time where more information can be collected in order to make that choice!
Another thing that is good to know about the twos is that they are indicative of intuitive knowledge and this is a time to trust your gut on the decision making process. While it is always wise to use common sense and logic in all things it is wise when the twos come up to step back and listen to your gut instincts, and use your intuition!
Depending on if you are looking at the two of wands, cups, swords or coins you could be facing a crossroads about romance, an argument you are having with someone, financial matters or something else!
The main thing to remember when dealing with the twos is that some direction needs to be determined. Obviously the suit in which the two is in is important to tell you what type of choice need be made, but surrounding cards often help to determine which direction to go!

Soul-Mates and Past-Lives and Karma, Oh My!

Soul Mates are a hot topic these days and an area I do specialize in. Past Lives are also another area of speciality for me which makes sense as the two go hand in hand.
As a specialist in these areas it is my duty to educate others about it, how it works, and what it all means.
It can be quite bewildering to many how to find a soul mate, how to know if someone is a soul mate and what makes a soul mate.
I have written many articles here on my blog regarding the topic but one thing I have yet to address is how common some types of soul mates are and how rare other types are.
The number one question I am asked is the “when” question. “When will I meet my soul mate?” The answer is more often than not - You already have! That is because you are surrounded by them! What the querent really means is “When will I meet my life mate?” or “When will I meet my twin flame?” or “When will I meet my split soul?” The fact of the matter is we have so many types of soul mates and we naturally gravitate toward and focus on the love mates we wish to find. These types of soul mates are more rare, less frequent and obviously special because we all seek love in our lives on some level.
While we all hope to have that once in a life time encounter at some point in our lives what I want to focus on today has more to do with the every day soul mates around us because they are also very important to our soul growth and development!
What if you had the ability to recognize every single soul mate that came across your path? While you may think that it would be really cool but consider for a moment how taxing life can be with the every day ins and outs of life in general. From work, to family life, to finances, to car repairs, household expenses etc. Not to mention duty and obligation, responsibility and communication with family and friends and co-workers. If you had the ability to recognize a soul mate passing you by on the street - what would you do?
I was in the car with my husband last week in another town and a 20 something man was walking by in a parking lot. I saw him and I knew he was a soul mate. He also looked directly at me and I could see a “knowing” in his eyes but it had this huge question mark in them as well. This is a regular occurrence for me to identify soul mates. My initial reaction was a thought wave, almost as if trying to communicate with him telepathically. Its a gut reaction, one which is difficult to control but as soon as it happens I pull it back, not because I am assuming this soul mate is going to actually get my brain wave transmission, but because I know that just because he is a soul mate does not mean we are supposed to meet in this life!
This is what I call a Brush-By soul mate. Those who happen to also be in the same life time as myself but who are not supposed to come into direct contact with me. I view these occurrences as a blessing to remind me of my souls journey, path, and that assurance that all souls will meet again when it is meant to be.
We have to understand that we travel in soul groups and some of our soul mates will have a direct impact in our lives, some we will impact their lives, some will be life time friends, while some have only a small passing role in our lives, while some we will never even exchange words with and still some we will never even lay eyes on! Not all soul mates are here for us they simply are soul we have shared past lives with and will share future lifetimes with on some level.
If you could in fact identify every single soul mate in a life time I believe most of us would be perplexed trying to find meaning behind each and every one and lets face it - at times its hard enough to find meaning in the things we already have in our life paths!
Now I am not saying I recognize every single soul mate out there for me, and I am thankful for that but due to my life’s work I am more inclined to recognize them than most people and it can be quite taxing. There are times I so wish I could walk up to one and say “Hey, you don’t know me but...” lol ... could you imagine the kind of looks I would get? :)
It’s also a hard thing to get one’s mind around that these souls walk around in all genders and ages! Your lover in a past life may be walking around in this one a 10 year old girl! Its NOT okay obviously for anyone with a logical and sane mind to want to be with a child romantically - thats just sick and twisted - but in a past life the two of you very much could have been of same age and in love. Getting one’s mind around these things is difficult and learning how to reconcile these things is even more challenging!
When its time for you to meet a life mate, or twin flame, it will happen. Nothing you do in your life path will change or block that as all things happen that should happen. The choices you make may change how the path twists, turns, and winds about but what is destined to be will be. Yes free will does come heavily into play once you meet someone, anyone, soul mate or not. You can shift the direction of things immensely with your moods, attitudes, words, and actions or lack of actions but if you are destined to meet a soul mate you will. Its wether you end up being with that soul mate that can change.
The point of this article is to give some base information on types of soul mates but more so to bring your focus toward the more common every day soul mates that cycle through your lives and to point out that soul mates exist on many levels in many fashions around you. While we want so much to focus on “the one” by giving more credence to the soul mates already within your life path, those who are touching your life and affecting your daily existence you will manifest the more deeply connected, more spiritually bound soul mates into your path!
Its logical, if you don’t dust the shelf your nicknacks sit on, your nicknacks will too become dusty. If you do not fill your car with gas and change the oil or top it off now and then, it will stop running. You have to keep your daily soul connections clean and tidy and maintained for the more meaningful explorations to take place. It is difficult to enjoy the view of your keep sakes when they are covered in dust and difficult to take that cross country road trip in a beaten down vehicle. By enjoying and benefiting from the soul mates within your life path now, those who may challenge you or teach you or share joys and pains with you, those who may be nurses, friends, co-workers, teachers, etc you develop your soul, opening up a window for deeper connections just waiting for you to arrive, both physically and spiritually to a plane of existence where the changes for a real bond, a life long connection can be forged!
Often times we meet these deeply rooted and connected soul mates far too soon in our life paths, either before they or we ourselves are ready for the impact of such a connection. Timing is everything and when we meet one of these life mates before good time we find that the connection is more confusing, more difficult, more obscured. This leaves us to feel disenchanted with our soul mate experience, or worried that we have not found the lesson, the meaning, the reason behind meeting them. All too often we then struggle for closure with the soul mate and end up spiraling downward trying to reconnect with them.
I cannot promise that by taking good care of and maintaing every day soul mate connections in your life path now that the next life time soul mate you meet will go perfectly or even smoothly. Some of our soul mates are in fact here to stir the pot or cause difficulty in our lives! That is what life is about - challenge, learning, over coming adversity and of course the joys in doing so brings! Sometimes our soul mates are just big pains in the ass! lol - However by being immersed in your NOW life and your daily soul mate connections you will find that your life as a whole is more enriched, the lessons come faster and easier and you will get toward your destiny sooner! By being fully involved in the now, the common soul mates within our lives, we will find our karma more positively effected as well. We will find that struggles become less, challenge easier to over come and unity, peace and harmony within our reach! We find that through working within the rules of the universe and manifesting positive actions in the now we create and manifest positive karmic results with all soul mates and bring about the life mates to a more harmonious accord with our own energy!
The moral of the story is - soul mates are everywhere even when your not looking, focus on the ones in front of you right now - those people who bring joy and harmony, troubles and challenge, focus on your life right now in this moment, this day, and take actions toward learning what you can from the now - your karma will increase in a positive way, your destiny will unfold and your romantic soul mate will come.

Tarot Number Cards - The Basics of The Aces

The Ace in each suit is your alpha. It is the root source. It is unto itself without much meaning or direction however is an indicator for the other cards around it.
With that said however consider the Ace as full of potential be that positive or negative!
It may not have a ton of meaning but it has a ton of worth!
The Ace is given more value and or credence depending upon the other cards in the layout.

For example - the Ace of Coins or Pentacles may mean that your querent is considering a new venture in business, finances, or investing but is at a core level, just beginning or in a through processing phase. You will want to look at cards surrounding it in the lay out to determine if this is the case or if there is some new phase coming up in an already established business. Your querent very well may have a solid business or financial plan but perhaps they are thinking of branching out, adding to their established business or gaining a partnership. There could be many reasons for the ace of coins to show up in their spread but the idea behind the aces is a new beginning, a clean slate, a new idea, etc.
Bearing in mind that this article is not specifically about the Ace of Pentacles / Coins in and of itself as there are other ways to read this card. This article is about the Aces as a whole. With that said Aces are an open book, the seed that is planted toward a goal, an idea, an awakening, a beginning, a start.
Aces are a call to action! Aces are an inspiration! Aces are your guiding light and grounding source. The aces however need to be directed into something more for success!

On Reading Tarot

Tarot as a rule is something one must work with, study and experience to fully grasp.

Like learning a foreign language the cards take on a life of their own. Each deck will teach you something different and new. Each card will invoke its own special meaning to each person reading them. While every suit and every card, be it major or minor arcana, has its own meaning these meanings are left open to the interpretation of the person handling them, or reading them.
When someone asks me to teach them how to read tarot the very first lesson I give to them is to go through each and every card in their deck and take notes on what each card says to them. I tell them to set aside any book, or guide that came with their deck and not to reference it at all in this stage. I want the person who is going to be using this deck to get their own feel for each card first.
I ask them to write down what the card makes them think of, makes them feel, what the images say to them, what they imagine the story of the card to be and also to note any images of their own they receive from their own guides.
It is very important we become intimate with each and every deck we plan to work with especially if we intend to give tarot readings to others.
As for learning card meanings, yes it is important to know what each card stands for, along with how they are influenced by the layout, and the cards surrounding it but what is more important is to learn how to fit all the cards together into something that has true value and meaning to the person they are reading for. The cards have a story to tell and it is up to the reader to hear the cards speak to and through them to gather their true lessons and pass those lessons on to the querent!
I still to this day am both humored and bothered by a client on Liveperson who left me a terrible review of a tarot card reading I had done for them. They stated that they only knew the basic meanings of the cards and that clearly I did not understand tarot based on my reading. What bothered me about this review, aside from it being a bad review, was that the client admittedly did not know much about tarot but furthermore did not understand that Tarot, like language, is not absent of interpretation, and most of the time it is within the interpretation itself that many of our most valued messages are received!
The reason I bring this to light is because Tarot is often the gateway “drug” toward further spiritual understanding. Tarot is often the first tool used by people interested in developing their psychic abilities and I want to make it clear to anyone embarking upon learning tarot not to give up - its not going to be easy to master and there is a lot of memorization involved but what is more important than learning the exact written meaning of each and every card is to let the cards speak to you and through you! The rest will come in time with a little patience.
