Healing with Lavender

Lavender is an herbalists and aromatherapists favorite! Along with Tea Tree and Carrot Seed oil it is one of the safest oils to use.
Lavender is well know for being a soothing and calming aroma. You see it in candles and bath products everywhere and is known to relax a person.
If you are building up an essential oil kit you will definitely want lavender on in it!
Lavender can be used to soothe a colicky baby, induce sleep, clam anxiety, and ease tension.

Lavender is also amazing on burns!
Lavender has also been used to treat depression!
Of course this article or use of any essential oil should never replace medical or professional treatments of any kind but in conjunction with your therapist or doctor and with their permission essential oils can really be a wonderful extra boost or aid.
You can also use Lavender on sunburn and acne.
Essential oils should most always be used in a blend with a carrier oil such as safflower, grapeseed, hemp or any other natural oils.
The list of ailments lavender can help is extensive but other than the things already mentioned here is a short run down:
Dull or Oily Hair Shampoo or Conditioner
Headaches ...
Skin conditions
Treating Head Lice
to name a few.
Lavender originated in the Mediterranean mountains and was brought to England by the Romans.
Lavender is the sacred scent of the Celtic moth of the Willow Moon which runs April 15 through May 13. Harvesting lavender during the full moon enhances its magical properties!
The Romans would burn lavender around a new born child and its mother after birth to surround them both with compassion and love.
Springs of lavender were worn by monks in medieval times to keep away evil spirits.
It is said that Cleopatra wore lavender in a blend of other oils to seduce both Mark Antony and Julius Caesar!
Lavender has been used in both medical and magical uses for over 2500 years.
